What this service is

KnownVehicle is an independent comparison site. We publish prices vendors advertise on their own pages and explain what the free official checks (GOV.UK MOT history, GOV.UK vehicle tax, and the MIB's askMID service) already answer for nothing. We are not a party to anything you agree with a vendor, and we never handle vehicle register data ourselves.

How we are paid

Vendors may pay us a commission when you buy a check through a link on this site. That commission never changes the order of the table: ranking is by advertised price, computed from the verified figures, and a vendor cannot buy a position. Affiliate links are disclosed and carry rel=sponsored.

About the price index

Every figure in the index is quoted verbatim from the vendor's own published page, with the date it was retrieved and a hash of the page text at that moment. Prices are the vendor's standing single-check figures: bundle rates, vouchers and promotional pricing move what you pay on the day. A vendor that publishes no standing price is recorded as such rather than estimated.

No warranty

The index reports what vendors published on the dates shown. Prices change and promotions expire, so check the linked source page before you buy. One thing this site will never do is identify a vehicle's keeper: the public registers return facts about the vehicle, not the person, and the lawful route to keeper information is DVLA form V888 with reasonable cause.
